Gateway into Reading training
The Neema Foundation invites professionally trained teachers to the accreditation training in the use of their programme.

This additional training is appropriate for those teachers with limited experience in teaching English phonics e.g. Senior Primary, adult educators, teachers whose home language is not English.

What training is required for educationalists using Gateway into Reading?
Before educationalists are accredited by the Neema Foundation to use “Gateway into Reading” they are required to attend training by Neema staff. 103 qualified teachers have been Neema accredited. This training comes in two tiers:
1) Training of the “Gateway into Reading programme”
The Neema Foundation invites professionally trained teachers to the accreditation training in the use of their programme “Gateway into Reading”. This training takes approximately 4 hours. Training when done in Kloof, KZN is R150 per person.
2) Training in teaching of Phonics (i.e. sounds that build words)
This additional training is appropriate for those teachers with limited experience in teaching English phonics e.g. Senior Primary and High School teachers, adult educators and also teachers whose home language is not English. Training takes approximately 4 hours. Training when done in Kloof, KZN is R80 per person. We have found training via Skype to be very effective and arrangements can be made for this where there is enough interest.
